Quickbooks

Quickbooks software has been implemented by Diana in the comapanies that are the subjects of case studies 2, 3 and 4. Diana recommends Quickbooks for small to medium sized businesses, and especially for charties needing to control restricted funds. Quickbooks also has a fully integrated payroll module. Exchequer

Exchequer is a far more complex accounting software suite, encompassing very sophisticated reporting and data entry tools, including journal upload from Excel spreadsheets and embedded data queries within Excel that update automatically each time you open the spreadsheet. This functionality carries a hefty price tag (typically in the £10k - £50k range) and is thus only suitable for larger companies. Diana has managed the installation of Exchequer in the company which is the subject of case study 5, including importing extracted data from the Sage Line 50 software that the company had been using prior to implementing Exchequer. Dimensions

Dimensions is a similar level of product to Exchequer, carrying again typically a five figure price tag and offering excellent handling of large amounts of data. It also links with Crystal reports and SQL queries can be embedded in Excel spreadsheets to create custom management accounts designs with ease. It can be configured with its own web based front end design tool, called Focalpoint, and has its own CRM and document management software to create a very versatile integrated solution. Institute of Certified Bookkeepers

The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), of which Diana Finch is a member, is a body which trains and accredits bookkeepers. The government has approved the ICB to monitor its members with regard to compliance with the new money laundering regulations.
